Maytag Washer Error Code F5 E2
Last updated:
The lid lock cannot lock or unlock during the cycle.
What F5 E2 means.
F5 E2 means the lid lock is not working as the control expects. A Maytag washer locks the lid before it spins, and when the lock does not engage or report its state the machine stops and posts the code. The lid lock motor assembly is the most common failure, though a broken strike or loose wiring can do the same.
Most common causes.
-
Failed lid lock motor assembly
-
Broken or missing lid strike
-
An object on the lid blocking it from closing
-
Loose wiring connector at the lock
-
Failed main control board
Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.
-
Clear anything resting on the lid and close it firmly.
-
Unplug the washer for five minutes to reset the control.
-
Open and close the lid, listening for the lock to click.
-
Inspect the lock strike for cracks or wear.
-
Run a short cycle to confirm the lid locks.

Ivan is the only repairman I would ever trust with our appliances! We have used him 3 times (for our dryer, our dishwasher, and most recently our oven). We called him when our oven unexpectedly stopped working and he got us scheduled right away and had it fixed immediately! He is prompt, incredibly knowledgable, very friendly, reasonably priced, and honest! Look no further if you have any appliance repair needs! Thank you again Ivan!! - Kate

Our ice maker in our GE Profile refrigerator stopped working. We contacted several vendors through Yelp and Esquire was quick to respond and were able to come out the next day. Our ice maker was back up and running right away! They were able to buy the proper part and install it all in one day. They were courteous and reasonably priced. I couldn't be more pleased with how it went.
