Frigidaire Washer Won't Start

The washer does not respond when started, with no fill, no lights, or a cycle that never begins.
What is going on.
A washer that will not start can be dead at the panel or it can light up and then stall before filling. The cause ranges from a power problem at the outlet to a lid lock that will not engage or a failed control board. Many cases come down to power or a door that is not fully latched, which a homeowner can check quickly. When the control board or the lid lock has failed, a technician needs to test and replace it.
Most common causes.

No power to the washer
A tripped breaker, a loose plug, or a dead outlet leaves the machine with no power. A front-load washer on a GFCI outlet can also trip that outlet.

Lid switch or door lock not engaging
The washer will not start a cycle until the lid switch or door lock confirms it is closed. A worn switch or a broken latch keeps the machine from beginning.

Cycle not selected or controls paused
The washer may be on a delay-start setting, paused mid-cycle, or waiting for the start button to be pressed and held. A child lock can also block the panel.

Failed control board or timer
The main control board or the mechanical timer can fail, so the machine has power but never sends the signal to begin a cycle.

Failed start switch or wiring fault
The start button or a broken wire in the control harness can stop the start signal from reaching the rest of the machine.

Confirm the washer is plugged in fully and check the circuit breaker for that outlet, resetting it if it tripped.

Test the outlet with another small appliance, and press the reset button on the outlet if it is a GFCI.

Close the lid or door firmly until the latch clicks, since the machine will not start if it does not sense a closed door.

Check that a cycle is selected and that the washer is not on a delay-start or paused setting.

Look for a child-lock or control-lock indicator on the panel and clear it per the setting guide.

Unplug the washer for one minute, plug it back in, and try to start a cycle to clear a control glitch.
