Cooktop Repair in OC: Induction, Gas, and Ceramic

Cooktops fail in ways that feel mysterious. A burner that ignites yesterday and goes dead today. An induction zone that beeps and shuts off after thirty seconds. A surface that suddenly shows a hairline crack across two rings. Almost all of it has a straightforward cooktop repair explanation once we’re on the floor with a meter.

Induction cooktop: zone won’t heat

Induction problems are usually one of three things:

• The pan isn’t ferrous enough (a real diagnosis, not a customer-service brush-off)
• A power module under the affected zone has failed (we read the error code in service mode)
• The thermal sensor under the glass is open, shutting the zone down before it starts
• A cooling fan has clogged with dust and is forcing thermal protection

The control boards on induction units are model-specific and ship from the manufacturer. We diagnose first, quote you the board cost up front, and only order once you approve.

Gas cooktop: clicking won’t stop

Same root cause as a gas range: moisture under the burner cap or a cracked electrode. We pull the caps, dry the wells, and check each electrode for visible damage. If the click follows one specific burner, that’s the bad spark electrode.

Ceramic and radiant: cracked glass

A cracked ceramic surface is not a repair, it’s a replacement. The glass is the cooking element. We can source the replacement top for most brands (Bosch, Wolf, Thermador, GE, Frigidaire) and install it the same visit if it’s in stock locally.
