Oven Repair in Orange County: Heat, Sensors, Seals

Wall oven with the door open showing racks and interior

An oven that runs 50 degrees cool is the kind of problem that ruins a dinner party and then a Sunday roast and then your patience. By the time we get the oven repair call, the homeowner has usually already calibrated it, blamed the cookie recipe, and bought an oven thermometer.

Why the temperature is off

The most common cause of an oven that bakes unevenly or runs cold is a worn oven temperature sensor (the thin metal probe poking into the cavity at the top-left rear). It’s a 15-minute swap and resets the calibration entirely. Second most common is a relay on the control board that’s chattering, so the bake element cycles on and off instead of holding a steady call.

What we check on a no-heat call

  • Bake element: visual inspection for breaks, then resistance test (should read around 19–30 ohms)
  • Broil element: same test, on the top
  • Igniter on a gas oven: should glow bright orange and pull enough current to open the safety valve
  • Control board relays: listening for click, measuring output voltage to the element
  • Door switch: interlocks can fault and prevent heat during bake

Other repairs that show up a lot

  • Self-clean cycle locked the door and tripped the thermal fuse (a very common Wolf and Thermador issue)
  • Broiler works but bake doesn’t (or vice versa): usually a bad relay, not the element
  • Convection fan stopped: motor or fuse
  • Door seal worn out, letting heat escape: a quick gasket swap
  • Touch panel unresponsive: ribbon cable or membrane failure

Brands we work on

Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Bosch, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Frigidaire. Wall ovens, double ovens, slide-in ranges with separate oven complaints. We see them all.
