Refrigerator Repair in Orange County: A 2026 Guide
A fridge that suddenly runs warm is the kind of problem that turns a quiet Saturday into a scramble. Before you start moving groceries to a neighbor’s garage, it helps to know what we usually find on a refrigerator repair call, and what’s worth fixing versus replacing.
Why your fridge stopped cooling
Most “not cooling” calls in Orange County come down to one of a small handful of parts:
- A failing evaporator fan motor (you’ll hear silence behind the freezer back panel)
- A defrost heater or defrost thermostat stuck open, letting frost choke airflow
- A clogged or kinked drain tube backing water onto the freezer floor
- A condenser fan packed with dust under the unit
- A start relay or compressor that’s drawing high amps and shutting down on overload
- An inverter board on newer linear-compressor models that’s stopped commanding the compressor
Ice maker complaints (no ice, hollow cubes, frozen solid) usually trace back to the fill tube, the water inlet valve, or a brittle module. Water dispenser issues are almost always the inlet valve or a kinked line behind the unit.
Brands we work on
Sub-Zero, Wolf, Bosch, Thermador, Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE Monogram, Viking. Built-ins and standard freestanding alike. We do a lot of column refrigerators in Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, and Irvine.
Diagnostics, not guesswork
A good diagnosis on a fridge is mostly listening and reading. We pull amperage on the compressor, check resistance on the defrost circuit, and verify the evaporator coil is actually frosting evenly. Throwing a control board at the problem before that is how repairs get expensive.
