Stove and Range Repair in Orange County

Stainless gas range with knobs and sealed burners

The first thing you usually notice on a failing range is the click. Either the burner clicks but won’t light, or it clicks endlessly even after the flame is on, or one knob has gone completely silent. Each of those is a different stove and range repair, and none of them require replacing the range.

Gas range: when the igniter won’t stop clicking

A continuous-click range almost always has a wet or dirty spark module, a cracked igniter electrode, or a sticking sealed burner cap. We dry everything out, pop the burner cap off, clean the porcelain, and inspect the electrode for soot or hairline cracks. If the click stops the moment we lift one specific cap, that’s your culprit.

Gas range: lights but won’t stay lit

That’s a thermocouple or flame sensor problem on older units, or a faulty safety valve on newer ones. The flame ignites, but the sensor doesn’t confirm a flame, so the gas shuts off after a few seconds.

Electric range: dead burner

  • Coil-style ranges: almost always the burner itself or the receptacle block behind it
  • Smooth-top radiant: usually the surface element or its limiter switch
  • Both styles share the same possible culprit: a failed infinite switch (the part the knob turns)

Common range repairs

  • Single burner won’t light or heat
  • All burners out but oven works (or vice versa)
  • Knob cracked or spinning freely on its shaft
  • Surface light stays on
  • Sealed burner cap warped from a boil-over
