Viking Range Repair in Orange County, CA
Viking ranges were one of the first true pro-style residential units, and a lot of OC kitchens still have the original 30-, 36-, or 48-inch range from a remodel done a decade or two ago. They’re built heavy, they last, and when something does go wrong it’s usually a wear item, like an igniter, a spark module, or a gasket, rather than the whole appliance giving up. Knowing which part fails first saves a service visit.
What typically goes on a Viking range
- Burner clicks but won’t light. The spark module is the most common Viking failure we see. Continuous clicking after a burner lights, or no spark at all, both point to the module. We replace it with the OEM part and confirm spark on every burner before leaving.
- Simmer burner runs hot. Viking’s VariSimmer feature relies on a gas valve calibrated to drop very low. When it stops simmering and starts cooking on what should be the lowest setting, the burner valve is worn.
- Oven door won’t seal / heat escapes. The oven door gasket compresses over time. Replacing the gasket is straightforward and brings the oven back to spec without touching anything electrical.
- Oven temp drifts or won’t ignite. Could be the bake igniter (the most common cause; Viking gas ovens use a hot-surface igniter that weakens with age), the oven temp sensor, or the safety valve. We test the igniter’s amp draw to confirm before replacing.
OEM parts and lead times
Viking spark modules, gas valves, igniters, oven sensors, and gaskets are OEM through Viking’s parts distribution. Most parts arrive in 1-3 business days. Older 30-inch ranges occasionally need a back-ordered part, and we’ll tell you up front so you can plan around it.
What we service
Viking gas ranges (VGR/VGSC series), dual-fuel ranges (VDSC), rangetops, wall ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
