What C8 means.

C8 reports that the detergent dispenser failed to release. The control sends a signal to the dispenser solenoid at the right point in the cycle, and C8 fires when the door does not open or the control gets no confirmation. A jammed dispenser, a failed solenoid, or detergent caked into the cup are the usual causes. Dishes may come out poorly cleaned with detergent still in the cup.

  • Wiring fault to the dispenser

Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.

  1. Open the dishwasher and clear any hardened detergent from the dispenser cup.

  2. Work the dispenser door open and closed by hand to check it moves freely.

  3. Confirm the door is not blocked by a tall item on the lower rack.

  4. Switch the dishwasher off at the breaker for five minutes, then restore power.

  5. If C8 returns, the dispenser assembly needs testing.
