The main control board has flagged a fault in its own electronics.
What E01 means.
E01 points to the main control board, the part that sequences the wash and reads the sensors. A board self-check has found a circuit it cannot trust, such as a relay or a memory error. A power surge or a loose ribbon connector to the user panel can produce the same code. Thermador groups several internal electronics faults in the E01 through E04 range, so the exact cause depends on the model and its service literature.
