What CF means.
CF on an Amana refrigerator means the main control board (mounted on the back) and the user interface (touch panel on the door) have stopped communicating. They talk over a wire harness that runs through the door hinge: the same harness Whirlpool and Maytag use, with the same failure mode. The harness flexes every time the door opens and eventually a conductor breaks. Once CF logs, the display goes blank or shows random characters, but the fridge usually keeps cooling on its last known settings.
