Refrigerator Error Codes
When your refrigerator throws a code, it has narrowed the problem down to a specific part or system. Find your brand below, then open the code for what it means, the most common causes, and the repair cost in the Orange County market. The diagnostic is $65, waived when you authorize the repair.

Sub-Zero
Built-in and integrated columns. EC-series service codes display on the temperature panel when the control board logs a fault.
Viking
Viking-branded built-in and freestanding refrigeration. Most codes display as 2 to 3 character abbreviations on the temperature panel.
Thermador
Freedom Collection columns, built-in side-by-sides, and bottom-freezer refrigerators. E-series codes display on the temperature panel.
Whirlpool
Side-by-side, French door, and top-freezer Whirlpool refrigerators. Codes display as alphanumeric pairs (PO, CF, E1, F1, E3, etc.).
GE
GE, GE Profile, and GE Cafe refrigerators. Flashing green codes on the temperature panel signal a fault; codes use 2-letter abbreviations.
KitchenAid
French door, side-by-side, and built-in KitchenAid refrigerators. Shares the Whirlpool parts catalog so error codes are nearly identical.
Bosch
500, 800, and Benchmark series Bosch refrigerators (counter-depth French door and built-in). Codes display as "E1" through "E5" on the temperature panel.
LG
French door, side-by-side, InstaView, and Door-in-Door LG refrigerators. Error codes display as "Er" plus 1 to 2 characters on the temperature panel.
Samsung
French door, side-by-side, Family Hub, and Bespoke Samsung refrigerators. Codes display as 2 to 3 character alphanumeric pairs (5E, 22E, 41E, 88 88) on the touch panel.
Frigidaire
Gallery, Professional, and standard Frigidaire refrigerators. Codes display as 2-letter pairs (SY EF, SY CE, OP, CF) on the temperature panel.
Maytag
French door, side-by-side, and top-freezer Maytag refrigerators. Shares the Whirlpool parts catalog so error codes are nearly identical.
Dacor
Dacor Modernist and Heritage refrigerators. Since 2016 Dacor has been a Samsung brand, so modern Dacor fridges share the Samsung control platform. Codes use alphanumeric pairs (5E, 21E, 22E) plus legacy Dacor flags on older units.
JennAir
JennAir Obsidian, Noir, and Rise refrigerators. JennAir is the Whirlpool premium tier. Modern columns share the Whirlpool and KitchenAid mainboard family, so codes overlap (PO, CF, E1, E3, SY-CE).
Kenmore
Kenmore is a Sears badge brand. Every Kenmore fridge is built by another manufacturer and the model prefix tells you which one (110.xxx = Whirlpool, 795.xxx = LG, 363.xxx = GE, 253.xxx = Frigidaire). Error codes match the parent brand. The codes below cover the most common cross-source faults. For an exact match, find the 12-digit model number on the inside-left wall.
Amana
French door, side-by-side, top-freezer, and bottom-freezer Amana refrigerators. Amana is part of the Whirlpool family and shares the same parts catalog, so error codes are nearly identical to Whirlpool and Maytag patterns.
Magic Chef
Compact, dorm, and small undercounter Magic Chef refrigerators. Many Magic Chef units are mechanical-only with no display codes, but the larger and newer models with electronic controls do log a small set of fault codes. Documentation is limited compared to mainstream brands.
