What E5 means.
E5 is the catch-all Bosch fault that covers cases where multiple sensors fail at the same time, or where the control module itself reports an internal fault. Often E5 follows a power surge that damaged several inputs at once, or the module has had an EEPROM corruption event. Until E5 clears, the unit will not cool properly. Bosch documentation classifies E5 as "professional service required" and most field technicians will replace the control module rather than chase individual sensors.

Turn off at the breaker for 30 minutes. This clears some firmware-only E5 events.
