Secondary sensor fault, usually the freezer or evaporator sensor on larger Magic Chef models.
What E2 means.
E2 appears on the larger Magic Chef models that have a separate freezer compartment with its own sensor. The freezer thermistor has failed or been disconnected, and the controller cannot manage freezer temperature accurately. On compact and dorm-style units this code is rare because they typically have only one sensor. When E2 does show up the symptoms are usually freezer-side problems: ice cream texture changes, partial thawing, or visible frost where there should be none.
