The door is not locking, so the cycle cannot start.
What E42 means.
On GE front-load washers E42 means the door lock is not engaging as the control expects. The washer must lock the door before it can run, and when the lock fails to confirm it stops and posts the code. A failed door lock assembly, a worn strike, or loose wiring are the common causes.
