The washer is not draining the water within the expected time.
What E22 means.
On GE front-load washers E22 is a drain fault. The control expects the water level to fall during the drain step, and when it does not the washer stops and posts the code. The restriction is usually a clogged drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or a worn drain pump.

Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.

Unplug the washer and set a pan under the pump filter access door.

Open the pump filter, clear lint and debris, and reseat it firmly.

Straighten the drain hose and confirm it is not pinched.

Check that the hose sits only a few inches into the standpipe.

Run a drain and spin cycle to confirm the water clears.
