Sub-Zero Refrigerator Error Code Service Light
Last updated:
Service indicator illuminated: a scheduled maintenance reminder OR an active fault.
What Service Light means.
The Service light on a Sub-Zero is dual-purpose. On Classic units it lights up every 12 months as a maintenance reminder (vacuum the condenser, change water filter); on newer integrated columns it stays on whenever an EC-series fault is active. The way to tell which one you have: if the light is solid and there are no temperature problems, it is the annual reminder. If it is flashing, or if the cabinet temperatures are wandering, there is an underlying EC code that needs to be read in service mode.
Most common causes.
-
Annual maintenance reminder (most common; solid Service light).
-
An EC code is active in service-mode memory.
-
Water filter overdue for replacement.
-
Condenser coils overdue for cleaning.
Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.
-
Vacuum the condenser coils behind the upper grille.
-
Replace the water filter if it has been more than 12 months.
-
To clear the reminder on Classic units: press and hold the Power button until the Service light goes out (usually 5 to 10 seconds).
-
If the light returns within 30 days, there is an underlying EC code. Schedule a diagnostic.

Ivan is the only repairman I would ever trust with our appliances! We have used him 3 times (for our dryer, our dishwasher, and most recently our oven). We called him when our oven unexpectedly stopped working and he got us scheduled right away and had it fixed immediately! He is prompt, incredibly knowledgable, very friendly, reasonably priced, and honest! Look no further if you have any appliance repair needs! Thank you again Ivan!! - Kate

Our ice maker in our GE Profile refrigerator stopped working. We contacted several vendors through Yelp and Esquire was quick to respond and were able to come out the next day. Our ice maker was back up and running right away! They were able to buy the proper part and install it all in one day. They were courteous and reasonably priced. I couldn't be more pleased with how it went.
