Whirlpool Refrigerator Error Code F1
Last updated:
Same fault as E1 on older Whirlpool firmware: temperature sensor or EEPROM error.
What F1 means.
F1 on a Whirlpool fridge has two distinct meanings depending on model year. On older units (pre-2015) F1 is the original code for "main temperature sensor fault," what newer firmware calls E1. On certain control-board firmware F1-E1 specifically means "EEPROM checksum error," which is a memory-chip fault on the main board itself. The fix differs significantly between the two: a sensor swap for the first, a board replacement for the second. A technician reads the model and firmware before quoting either.
Most common causes.
-
On older models: same as E1 (sensor fault).
-
On newer firmware: EEPROM checksum error on main control board.
-
Voltage surge corrupted board memory.
-
Board input failed.

-
Unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
-
Wait 1 full minute after power restore. Sometimes the board re-initializes and F1 clears.
-
If F1 returns, board or sensor replacement is needed.
-
Get the model number from the inside-left wall. It tells the technician which fix to expect.

Ivan is the only repairman I would ever trust with our appliances! We have used him 3 times (for our dryer, our dishwasher, and most recently our oven). We called him when our oven unexpectedly stopped working and he got us scheduled right away and had it fixed immediately! He is prompt, incredibly knowledgable, very friendly, reasonably priced, and honest! Look no further if you have any appliance repair needs! Thank you again Ivan!! - Kate

Our ice maker in our GE Profile refrigerator stopped working. We contacted several vendors through Yelp and Esquire was quick to respond and were able to come out the next day. Our ice maker was back up and running right away! They were able to buy the proper part and install it all in one day. They were courteous and reasonably priced. I couldn't be more pleased with how it went.
