The moisture sensor circuit is reading open or shorted.
What F28 means.
F28 on an Amana dryer points to the moisture sensor circuit used by automatic-dry cycles. Two metal bars in the drum read how wet the load is. F28 fires when the control sees the sensor circuit as open or shorted. Timed-dry cycles still work, but automatic cycles cannot judge dryness. A fabric-softener film coating the bars is a common and easily cleaned cause.
