Dryer not heating.
Drum spins but the laundry stays damp. Often the heating element, a tripped thermal fuse, or (on gas units) a weak valve coil. Diagnosis in about 45 minutes.
Common causes for this symptom.

Heating element burned out (electric).
The coil at the back of the drum has broken open. Drum spins, air moves, but everything stays cold. Most common cause on electric dryers past 6–8 years.

Thermal fuse tripped.
A safety fuse on the blower housing has blown, almost always from a clogged dryer vent overheating the cabinet. We replace the fuse and address the vent.

High-limit thermostat failed.
The thermostat that caps cabinet temperature has stuck open. Heat never turns on. A cheap part, quick swap once the back panel is off.

Gas valve solenoid weak (gas).
On gas dryers, one of the two valve coils has lost magnetism. Igniter glows but gas never opens, so no flame. We replace the coil pair as a set.
