The heating circuit is reading an overheat or out-of-range temperature.
What HC means.
HC, also seen as hC or H4, indicates the heating system has gone over its safe temperature limit or the control is reading an abnormal heating value. Samsung uses it as a protective shutdown so the dryer does not run too hot. Restricted airflow is the usual root cause because trapped heat with nowhere to go pushes the temperature up. A failed thermistor or a stuck relay can also fire it. Because the code involves the heating circuit, internal work belongs with a technician.
