Defrost sensor fault. The controller cannot manage the defrost cycle.
What 5E means.
5E on a frost-free Samsung upright freezer flags a defrost-sensor fault. The sensor on the evaporator coil tells the board when frost has cleared and the heater can shut off. Without it the defrost cycle falls back to a backup timer that is usually too short, so frost slowly builds on the coil over a few weeks until airflow drops and the cabinet warms.

Do a 24-hour manual defrost: unplug, door open, towels at the base.

After defrost, plug back in. The unit will work for 2 to 4 weeks before frost rebuilds.

Do not pull the rear evaporator panel yourself. Samsung uses many small screws and the seals tear easily.
