Freezer Error Codes
When your freezer throws a code, it has narrowed the problem down to a specific part or system. Find your brand below, then open the code for what it means, the most common causes, and the repair cost in the Orange County market. The diagnostic is $65, waived when you authorize the repair.

Frigidaire
Frigidaire upright and chest freezers. Upright frost-free models with an electronic display show 2-letter codes (OP, SH, HI) on the temperature panel. Most chest freezers are mechanical and show no codes.
GE
GE upright frost-free and chest freezers. Upright models with an electronic control show 2-letter codes; the FF and dE/DF defrost codes carry over from the GE refrigerator platform.
Whirlpool
Whirlpool upright frost-free and chest freezers. Upright models with an electronic display use the same alphanumeric codes as Whirlpool refrigerators (PO, E1, E3).
Kenmore
Kenmore upright and chest freezers. Kenmore is a Sears badge brand and most upright freezers are built by Whirlpool (110.xxx) or Frigidaire (253.xxx), so codes match the parent manufacturer. Find the model prefix on the inside-left wall.
Maytag
Maytag upright frost-free freezers. Maytag shares the Whirlpool parts catalog, so upright freezer codes are nearly identical to Whirlpool patterns (PO, E1, E3).
Samsung
Samsung upright and Bespoke standalone freezers. Models with an electronic panel use the same alphanumeric codes as Samsung refrigerators (5E, 21E, 88 88).
LG
LG upright standalone freezers. Models with an electronic panel use the same "Er" prefix codes as LG refrigerators (Er FS, Er dH, Er FF).
Sub-Zero
Sub-Zero freezer columns and the freezer side of built-in units. EC-series service codes display on the temperature panel when the control board logs a fault.
Amana
Amana upright frost-free freezers. Amana is part of the Whirlpool family and shares the same parts catalog, so upright freezer codes are nearly identical to Whirlpool patterns (PO, E1, E3).
