What 88 88 means.
"88 88" on a Samsung freezer display is a control-board fault. The board has powered up, but its self-test failed and it is showing all segments lit (which looks like 88 88) as the error indication. Most often this follows a power surge that damaged the board, or a long unplug-replug cycle that left the firmware in an unknown state. The freezer will not cool until the board clears.
