Communication error between the main control board and user interface.
What E0 means.
E0 on a KitchenAid means the main control board and the user-interface display have lost communication. They talk over a wire harness that runs from the back of the fridge up through the door hinge to the front panel. With E0 active, the display goes blank or shows garbled characters, but the fridge usually keeps cooling on its last known settings. The most common cause is a flex-fatigued harness at the hinge.

Unplug for 5 minutes to reset.

Restore power. If E0 returns within 30 minutes, the harness or a board needs service.

Open and close the door slowly. If E0 blinks in time with the motion, the door harness is the issue.
