Dryer making weird noise.
Thump on every revolution, squeal that ramps with heat, or a rattle behind the back wall. Each points to a different part. Diagnosis in about 60 minutes.
Common causes for this symptom.

Drum rollers worn flat.
The two or four small rollers that support the drum have flat spots. Causes a rhythmic thump on every revolution. Cheap parts, but the whole drum comes out.

Idler pulley seized or squealing.
The spring-tensioned pulley that keeps the belt taut has bearing wear. Loud squeal that gets worse as the dryer warms up. Quick swap with the belt off.

Blower wheel collecting debris.
Coins, lint, or a bra wire is rattling around inside the blower housing. Wheel can also crack and rub. Sounds like a small object trapped behind the back wall.

Motor bearings failing.
A whining hum from underneath the drum that does not change with belt tension is usually the drive motor itself. Less common, but a clear "replace the motor" call.
