LG Refrigerator Error Code Er IF
Last updated:
Ice maker fan fault. The fan inside the ice room has stopped.
What Er IF means.
Er IF (often appears alongside Er F1 on French door LG models) means the ice-maker fan has stopped. This fan sits inside the dedicated ice room in the door or top of the fridge and pulls cold air from the freezer to keep the ice cubes frozen. When it stops, the cubes melt into a block and the controller logs Er IF. The most common cause is frost that has built up around the fan blade, locking it in place.
Most common causes.
-
Frost or ice has locked the ice-maker fan blade (most common).
-
Ice maker fan motor failed.
-
Wire to fan damaged.
-
Control board fan-driver circuit failed.
Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.
-
Unplug the unit and remove all food and ice from the ice bin.
-
Leave both doors open for at least 8 hours to fully defrost the ice room.
-
Keep towels around the unit to soak up melt water.
-
After 8 hours, towel out any remaining moisture and plug the unit back in. Wait 24 to 48 hours for normal operation.
-
If Er IF returns within 1 week, the fan motor itself has failed.

Ivan is the only repairman I would ever trust with our appliances! We have used him 3 times (for our dryer, our dishwasher, and most recently our oven). We called him when our oven unexpectedly stopped working and he got us scheduled right away and had it fixed immediately! He is prompt, incredibly knowledgable, very friendly, reasonably priced, and honest! Look no further if you have any appliance repair needs! Thank you again Ivan!! - Kate

Our ice maker in our GE Profile refrigerator stopped working. We contacted several vendors through Yelp and Esquire was quick to respond and were able to come out the next day. Our ice maker was back up and running right away! They were able to buy the proper part and install it all in one day. They were courteous and reasonably priced. I couldn't be more pleased with how it went.
