Refrigerator section temperature sensor fault. The controller cannot read fridge temp.
What E01 means.
E01 on a Thermador fridge means the main control board has lost contact with the refrigerator-compartment sensor. The sensor has either failed open, failed short, or its wire is disconnected. Without that input the controller falls back to a safe-mode duty cycle (typically over-cooling) and disables some advanced features like the SuperCool boost. On Freedom columns, the sensor lives behind the upper trim panel near the LED strip; on built-in side-by-sides it is clipped to the rear interior wall.
Most common causes.

Refrigerator thermistor failed (most common after 6 or more years).

Sensor wire pinched during a previous service.

Connector at the back of the cabinet corroded or wet.

Main control board input failed (rare).
Try this first: safe DIY troubleshooting.

Unplug the unit at the breaker for 5 minutes to reset the controller.

Restore power and watch for E01 to return. If it returns within an hour, the sensor itself has failed.

Do not run the unit long-term with E01 active. Temperature is no longer being managed.

Schedule a diagnostic. Sensor replacement on Thermador requires careful trim removal.
