Oven Error Codes
When your oven throws a code, it has narrowed the problem down to a specific part or system. Find your brand below, then open the code for what it means, the most common causes, and the repair cost in the Orange County market. The diagnostic is $65, waived when you authorize the repair.
Oven codes by brand.
GE
GE wall ovens use a two-digit F code on older units and a longer F0 through F9 code with a sub-digit on newer Profile and Cafe boards. Most point at the oven temperature sensor or the electronic range control.
Whirlpool
Whirlpool wall ovens run the long-standing F-then-E fault series, where the F number names the failed system and the E number narrows it down. Older units show a plain F code. Many faults trace to the oven sensor or the control board.
KitchenAid
KitchenAid wall ovens are built on Whirlpool control platforms and share the F-then-E fault series. The F number flags the failed system and the E number narrows it. Sensor and control board faults are the most common.
Maytag
Maytag wall ovens use the Whirlpool-family F-then-E fault series. The F number names the failed system and the E number identifies the part. Most codes lead to the oven sensor, the door latch, or the control board.
Kenmore
Kenmore is a retail brand built by several makers, so a Kenmore oven may run a Whirlpool, Frigidaire or LG control. Most show the classic F-code series. Matching the code to the maker of that unit is the first step.
Frigidaire
Frigidaire wall ovens, including Electrolux-built models, show F10 through F90-series codes plus newer E-codes. The F1x family covers runaway heat and sensor faults. Many codes lead to the oven sensor or the electronic oven control.
Samsung
Samsung wall ovens use modern alphanumeric codes that begin with a letter. The codes name a circuit such as the temperature sensor, the door lock, the fan or the control communication link. Many can be read on the display without a service mode.
LG
LG wall ovens use an F-prefix code set, where F numbers map to the temperature sensor, the heating circuit, the door lock and the fan. The display shows the code directly. Sensor and control faults are the most common.
Bosch
Bosch wall ovens show an E-prefix code, often a two-digit number. The codes name the temperature sensor, the door lock, the heating circuit or the control. Bosch also pairs many codes with a plain-language note on the display.
Thermador
Thermador wall ovens share the Bosch control platform and use the same E-prefix code set. The codes flag the temperature sensor, the door lock, the cooling fan or the heating circuit. The display usually pairs the code with a short note.
JennAir
JennAir wall ovens are built on Whirlpool control platforms and run the F-then-E fault series. The F number names the failed system and the E number narrows it. Sensor, latch and control board faults are the most common.
Amana
Amana wall ovens run on Whirlpool control platforms and use the F-then-E fault series, with a plain F code on older units. The F number names the failed system. Sensor and control board faults are the most common.
Viking
Viking wall ovens on the electronic platform show E-prefix codes for the temperature probe, the door lock and the control. Older Viking ovens have few digital codes and rely on the temperature probe and relays instead.
Wolf
Wolf wall ovens on the electronic control platform show an F-prefix code on the display for sensor, door lock and control faults. The control panel also shows a short message with most codes.
Dacor
Dacor wall ovens show an F-prefix or E-prefix code depending on the model generation. The codes point at the temperature sensor, the door lock and the control board. Newer Dacor ovens pair the code with a short note on the display.
Magic Chef
Magic Chef wall ovens on electronic controls use the classic F-code series shared across the Maytag family. The F number names the failed system. Many faults point at the oven sensor or the control board.
